Akhlaque Khan readies up for his debut theatre venture

Akhlaque Khan
In their entire lifetime, some people are not able to find their way out while some are confident of how to go about things. Actor Akhlaque Khan surely falls in the second category. After impressing one and all with his acting talent in Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha 2, the actor soon tried his hand at some awesome photography. And now he is all set to roll out a play written and directed by him. Wanting to know more on it, we buzzed the good looking actor who shared, “It all started from me attending a meeting of a theatre group that some of my friends had recently joined. There they talked about giving a chance to young talent and asked us for any new concept if we had one. When I told them of the concept I hand in mind, they found it quite interesting and asked me to give them a complete script.” “Excited, I asked them to give me a deadline so that I could get the work done without dilly-dallying. They gave me 13 days time and to my surprise I could complete it in just three days. It’s just that I had to lock myself in my home to work on it,” he smilingly added. So is this the first time he has tried his hand in writing, we asked. “Professionally yes, since the last I wrote was in school where I tortured my friends by directing some play for them. So I am really excited to don the director’s hat this way. The play is like a baby to me and I am hopeful that people will like it,” he quipped. Talking about the concept, Akhlaque shared, “It’s going to be a comic thriller titled Gulel Banaunga Chidiya Maarunga. It’s basically a character-driven play on a few mad characters with pea-sized brains that will lead to some hilarious outings. Since it’s a thriller, I would not like to share much on the concept, all I can say is that it’s on the lines of Angoor, Golmaal, Chupke Chupke and Andaz Apna Apna that I have loved and grown watching.” So have these films served as an inspiration? “Not really, but I admire Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s work and would want to do something of his style Apart from that I am a huge fan of Charlie Chaplin and interestingly we also share the same birth date. And the way that man perfected his skills in acting, filmmaking, music and what not, is just inspirational,” he answered. And about his cast and crew Akhlaque disclosed, “Laura Mishra and Tanmay Ranjan are producing the play under the banner of Making Noise and my co-stars are Jayashree Venkataramanan, Kader Khan’s son Shahnawaz Khan, Laura, Tanmay and Hriday Malhotra. We will launch the first show on 22 February at Haute Haveli, Andheri and are rehearsing with full force and are all pretty thrilled about it.” We wish you and your team great luck!!!
