Amit Dolawat to play a real life hero for Epic TV’s film

Amit Dolawat

Versatile actor Amit Dolawat will sport a brave avatar, as he is all set to portray the role of a real life hero, Indian army’s legend from the Rezang la war of 1962, Subehdar Nihal Singh in the film to be aired on Epic TV tomorrow (5 August).

Titled Rezang La.. India China War, the name of the series is called Great Escape. The series will be directed by Siddharth Sen Gupta, and it will be produced by Nidhi Tulli, Ashraf and Akash Thakkar from Rangrez Films.

The best part about this real life hero is that the grand old man is still alive and wears his medals proudly and narrates the story of this war even today.

The Chinese had taken him captive and had shot him in his arms, broke his legs and had kept him as a prisoner of war. It’s a brave tale of courage, will power, bravery and grit where this brave soldier escaped from the Chinese army and ran all the way to India, making it one of the greatest escapes in the Indian history.

For Amit Dolawat, this was a challenge in itself to play this great warrior.

Says Amit, “This was one of the toughest shoots of my career as we shot at 3650 mts above sea level in a place called Kaza in the Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh. The place had very less oxygen and practically no resources. I actually felt and lived a life of an army man in a battle for six days.”

Get to see Amit in the army man avatar on 5 August at 10 PM on Epic TV.
