Arnab Goswami, the unofficial voice of the nation, has resigned as the editor-in-chief of Times Now. Yes, you heard it right. The resignation comes in the wake of strong protests from various quarters post his controversial bashing of the Indian team on his favourite fiefdom, The Newshour.
Arnab’s relentless tirade against the Indian team and his endeavour in proving that their victory was shameful didn’t go down well with many fans in the cricket frenzied nation. Soon after the telecast of the program, Twitter was filled with hate tweets and hashtags bashing Arnab started trending. Many even went to the extent of calling him an anti-national while the intellectual lot dismissed him as a cricket amateur out to grab TRPs.
The sum total of all the criticisms especially the accusations of him being anti-national is believed to have pained Arnab a lot. Says a source, “He has faced severe criticism before as well. From being called names to being threatened, Arnab has seen it all and he has never ever been affected. But calling him an anti-national deeply pained him.”
It is believed that Arnab met his employers, Vineet and Sameer Jain and submitted his resignation after considerable discussion. The Jains managed to convince him to stay back but to no avail.
Adds the source, “The Jains have accepted his resignation and have already started looking for a replacement.”
It is widely speculated that Arnab will start something of his own where he can be more aggressive than his current self. We will wait for that one for the moment.
April Fool Banaya!!! :)
