The K9 & SOL Productions rib-tickler on Colors touched great heights of popularity and has legions of fans across the globe.
Now, the latest development which we hear is that the Kapil-the brand - is shifting his professional base from Colors to Sony Entertainment Television.
Informs a source: “Differences between Kapil and Colors cropped up when he chose to be a part of a KBC episode a year back (Sony). The move also meant Kapil and Sony started talking business. Relationship between Kapil and Colors are at an all time low and Kapil is definitely shopping to associate with a new channel at this point of time. He has been in talks with Star Plus as well, but it seems Sony is the one where Kapil will be seen displaying his comic genius.”
Readers would remember that Kapil rose to fame with his performance in the channel’s much acclaimed Comedy Circus few years back.
Added the source, “Kapil had a great association with Sony TV before getting a promising offer from rival channel Colors. He swiftly moved out of Comedy Circus to launch his own big solo project. Sony TV, on the other hand, is now at a stage to revamp its programming line up and needs a comedy show desperately. There can be no bigger buzz than Kapil being the face of the channel. Only time will tell if he would carry on with the Comedy Nights format or create a new one.”
Though there is no confirmation as yet, a source from the channel has informed that soon things will formalise.
We reached out to a channel spokesperson for a comment but did not get any response till the time of filing the story.
Well only time will tell where will Kapil find his ‘Comedy Nights’...
