In conversation with talented and revered actor Anang Desai

Anang Desai
Anang Desai needs no introduction! While the versatile actor took the audience by storm with his enchanting personality and crisp acting skills through shows like Imtihaan, Kumkum and India Calling, he gained immense fame as Babuji in telly serial Khichdi. Now he marks another innings into the comedy space with Chandrakant Chiplunkar Seedi Bambawala (Namaraj Productions) on SAB TV. We speak to him about his character in the show. Said Anang, “Well, I play a Gujarati businessman, Hasmukh Mehta who resides in Ghatkopar. With his hard work, he has earned a lot of respect for himself in the society and he likes to show it off to people around him. There was no particular reason I chose to essay this character. I love doing comedy. Moreover, the idea of drafting a show on fire fighters is something which appealed to me the most.” We asked him of how he gained a footing into the comedy space at a time when all the channels offered him serious roles. He gave all the credit and appreciation to JD Majethia and Aatish Kapadia, Producers of Hats Off Productions for the same. Anang elaborated, “Well, Imtihaan was a show which helped me establish footing in the industry. At that time, no producer believed that I could pull off comedy roles and offered me emotionally inclined positive and negative roles. It is then when Khichdi happened to me that changed my personality as an artist and then onward my relationship with comedy shows never looked behind.” He further added, “Chandrakant Chiplunkar Seedi Bambawala is a unique concept with a talented ensemble cast. With another feather in my cap, I hope people would like my fresh character in the show as much as they loved me in Khichdi.” Anang you are truly a revered actor and shall always remain one!!!
