Ekta Kapoor to remake Chandrakanta?

Television Czarina, Ekta Kapoor, is all set to tie up with Sony TV once again after the success of her mature love story Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyar, is what we hear.

This time we hear that Balaji Telefilms is all geared up to launch its new fantasy television drama Chandrakanta based on the novel of the same name. Chandrakanta is a story about two lovers, who belonged to two rival kingdoms.

“The show will be the remake of the popular Doordarshan television series of mid 90’, which was also a television adaptation of the novel. Though the project is at nascent stage and none of the cast has yet been finalized, the creatives are working on the project and the actors,” shared our source.

The famous Doordarshan series had veteran actors Shahbaz Khan and Shikha Swaroop in the lead roles. Interestingly later on the show had a rerun on Sony TV as well.

When we contacted the creative head of Balaji Telefilms, Nivedita Basu, she mentioned, “Nothing as of now”.

We texted Ekta Kapoor as well, but she did not revert till the time of filing the article.

However, another source of our mentioned that if not Sony, the production house might also pitch it to Star Plus and Zee TV.

Looking at the success rate of fantasy series nowadays, we hope that this one will be a visual treat for audience.
