Elated Manish Wadhwa shares his feelings on winning The Best Actor (Jury) Trophy at the 11th Indian Telly Awards

31 May 2012 was a night of glitz, glamour and glory as Indiantelevision.com held its ground event of the 11th Indian Telly Awards 2012 which will air on Colors on 30 June 2012. TV artists who excelled in their respective art forms took away the coveted golden trophy back home and one of them was Manish Wadhwa, better known as Chankya of Chandragupta Maurya. He won the Jury award for the Best Actor for his performance in the above mentioned show. The actor is definitely very happy as his hard work bagged him the second award for the year but he is still waiting for something bigger and better. “I knew I was nominated and like all others I wanted to win. And just like when you write your exam papers you know how much you are going to score, I knew I had done a good job with my character. However, the other nominees were also very deserving. So I wasn’t entirely sure on the final outcome,” says Manish to Tellychakkar.com. Furthermore, the actor feels that winning the trophy has added some extra responsibility on his shoulders and now he will have to work harder to fulfill it. “I am looking at it as a start with a lot more responsibilities to carry on my shoulder. I wouldn’t want to put down the jury or those people who have stood for me and helped me achieve this award. I wouldn’t want to make a single mistake in my work from now on.” In fact, he goes on to share an anecdote with his fans, “I was to act in a play and after my performance got over I told my director that I was happy with my work. And he simply asked me not to talk to him and further added ‘how much better do you want to do?’ According to him I had given the best to the character and when I was awarded with Balraj Sahni trophy for the same role, I knew he was right. Similarly, this award is the faith which the jury has shown on me and I’d live up to it.” So what about celebrations? “I am waiting for Chandragupta Maurya to come back on TV and the day that happens I will be celebrating my heart out as that will be a bigger award for me.” Now that is called commitment, Manish. Congrats buddy!!!
