MUMBAI: It is not usual that actors get to be a part of two to three shows at the same time and that too playing two crucial characters.

A powerhouse of talent, Supriya Shukla is a part of Colors’ show Molkki and Zee TV show Kumkum Bhagya and Kundali Bhagya at the same time. The look that she sports in these respective shows is quite different and her character is too. While Kundali Bhagya features her as a simple and kind hearted woman, Molkki projects her as a personality who is cunning.

In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Supriya got chatty about her characters and the role she likes playing the most.

You project different looks in Molkki and Kundali Bhagya. Which is your personal favourite?

Look wise if you think Molkki is my favourite because the costumes and the whole attire contributes to the character, Sarla is very simple though I love Sarla more because the more travelling and many years are very dear to me. It's going to be almost 8 years since I am doing that character so she is a very simple lady with very strong values so to choose between two is very difficult but as far as look goes of course Prakashi Devi is out of this world only. She is a widow but she wears all jewellery, I love her jewellery and I think it helps her also to portrait her strong character also as a villain, so look wise Molkkl is very dear because you get to experiment with the thing, otherwise

Sarla is very simple the earrings and the moti mala which she is wearing since 2014 the same she wears nothing else, now that I started wearing a juda , recently also I went to Bhagyalaxmi to bless I went in a juda but it suits with saree, it’s more festive but otherwise she is simple.

If we were to ask about your on screen daughter Pragya and Preeta, which is the best part about your mother daughter bond with both?

See basically I have four daughters Pragya, Preeta, Bulbul and Srishti and honestly I have equal love for four of them, I know they are the protagonist and I have a lot of scenes with them but with Bulbul and Srishti it’s the same like Pragya and Preeta , and I have two daughters in real life also and chemistry is different with both of them so I think that has helped me to portrait it in the reel life also, like how my elder daughter is very practical about so many things and younger daughter is very smart but she has her own ways to do things , and I think that has helped more in the character. In the beginning now the character comes in hand and I used to ask Amitji that if done this way is it okay so he used to say you know better you can do however you feel and I know how to operate as a mother, the Sarla’s character is written very nicely although you put your input in it as an actor.

I think Pragya and Preeta are same only because elder kids are same like very understanding with the mother they don’t want to hurt their mother, they try to hide things that don’t want to hurt mother, and younger they are always mumma’s pet, they start crying that you don’t love me you love didi and all that and I think the bonding with four of them is equally well.

You’ve been a part of the entertainment industry for very long so has your journey been into acting?

Journey’s been very beautiful from doing theatre in college, and starring with Pradeep Sarkar and then Pareenita and then getting in touch with Vidhu Vinod the producer the whole journey started and there wasn’t any struggle. God has been very kind to me , of course when the opportunity came to me I had full chance to present and give 100% and I didn’t have to struggle for work and then after doing films for a while T.V calls were coming but the kids were very small and the one time I just couldn’t refuse certain projects and started doing television and cinema is very monotonous and I wanted to do strong mother character and I feel blessed Ekta to give me Tere Liye on Star Plus that’s when people noticed that there is a good performer and I am very thankful for Ekta to see such a strong character in me.

I personally feel I am not typical Balaji , glamorous and I am not very tall also it’s like so many things come with me and I feel very strong also to put my 100% and Tere Liye was my beautiful memories and given people started asking me strong good character for me and I feel I am really lucky when they write of me they think of me so I think I am blessed , everybody puts 100% in it , and everything I go back to the house I have to sleep to I did good quality work, I am never relaxed, I should be proud of what I am doing no actor accomplishes everything till the day you die you are learning. The medium doesn’t matter the work matters, it’s your love and fun. You should be loyal to it.
