MUMBAI: Prateek Sharma has had an illustrious career in the entertainment industry. The talented man, who has been associated with soaps like Beyhadh, Saath Nibhana Saathiya, and Jaana Na Dil Se Door, made his debut as a producer on the small screen with Ek Deewana Tha under his banner LSD Films. He is also presenting some exciting stories for Laal Ishq on &TV.
Only two shows old in production, Prateek has proved that he is here to stay and to narrate some unconventional tales on the small screen.
All set to launch an exciting and thrilling supernatural drama Manmohini on Zee TV, Prateek is for sure one of the most promising makers in showbiz.
The drama will feature Reyhna Malhotra playing the role of a chudail. Ankit Siwach and newbie Garima Singh Rathore will play the leads in the show.
In an exclusive conversation with TellyChakkar, he spoke about Manmohini, his love for the supernatural genre, and more.
He shared, ‘Manmohini is a story of love versus love. It is unique in various ways and gives a new dimension to the horror genre on television. There are a few elements of occult craft that have never been explored on neither television or in films that we are trying to present to our viewers. Horror as a genre is something I enjoy making, and I am only happy that I have got a chance to showcase this wonderful story on Zee TV.’
Prateek loves exploring the supernatural genre on TV. He said, ‘It is one my favourite genres and it is exciting to make something that has a mystery element added to it. So supernatural, horror, and thriller are the genres I really enjoy experimenting with on TV. Although I have produced a supernatural drama, but my forte has been family drama. I will soon be re-entering that space.’
When asked him what makes viewers binge on shows based on chudails, daayans, and naagins on TV, he replied, ‘As I mentioned, the element of unknown and curiosity to know about the genre make viewers binge on these kind of shows.’
Sharing his shooting experience in Rajasthan for Manmohini, he added, ‘Since the story is based in Rajasthan, we had to shoot there to give a natural feel to it. And since I hail from Rajasthan, I understand their culture very well.’
Finally, when we asked him how he feels when people address him as a young producer on TV, he replied, ‘I am extremely humbled by the fact that I have received this recognition at such a young age. But I was always sure of getting into production from a very young age.’
Keep up the good work, Prateek!
