MUMBAI: Falaq Rahi is a known actress and she has a good fan following.

She bagan her career in showbiz with advertisements, short films, music videos, and theatre and just recently she debuted in the  movie "Bengal 1947," starring artists like Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Sohaila Kapoor, Aditiya Lakhiya, and Anil Rastogi.

TellyChakkar got in touch with the actress and asked her what drove her in signing the project and what are the challenges she has been facing for playing this character.

What drove you in signing this new project was the story, your character?

During the first meeting when the director narrated the script to me, I was certain that I wanted to be a part of this film. It is such a refreshing story unlike other films of the same genre. I feel somehow related to the imbalance in society when it comes to religion, caste, and even status. This film sheds light on all these topics while still managing to deliver a soulful love story. Initially, I didn’t know much about my character, but upon reading my scenes, I realized it’s not an easy character. And that gave me another reason to be in this film.

What are the challenges you are facing in playing the character?

I play "Basabhdutta," and she has a very interesting character arc. In the beginning, she's a very happy-go-lucky girl who has access to pretty much anything and everything due to her status. But slowly, in the middle of the film, she realizes that she might not be lucky in love, and she loses a bit of herself in that realization. Towards the end, she comes to terms with the fact that she can’t be with a man who doesn't love her and decides to move forward in life. While she wasn’t directly related to anything happening when the country was divided into two parts, the little events also played a vital role in altering her character and life.

How is the environment on the sets of the movie, how is your experience working with the co – actors and team?

The set experience was unlike any other. I've been on other sets, but the amount of joy people had working on this project was just unreal for me. Everyone was having fun on set; it didn’t feel like we were working. We shot in Chhattisgarh, and before this shoot, I had never been there. The amount of love and respect we received from the locals was unreal. We didn’t feel like we didn't belong there. The locals were very warm. I was a little nervous initially when I met the senior actors on set, but they made me comfortable very soon.

Well, there is no doubt Falaq Rahi's character was appreciated by the audience and fans.
