I try to bring acting elements into my anchoring: Dheeraj Juneja

Mumbai is known as the City of Dreams. The city is said to fulfill the dreams of many people. Many strugglers come to Mumbai in pursuit of their dreams. While a lot of them struggle, a few achieve their goals because of their hard work and conviction. One such celebrity is Dheeraj Juneja. The journalist-turned-anchor was a part of Zee TV’s Lagao Boli.

TellyChakkar got in touch with Dheeraj to know more about his journey. Read on to know more.

How was your experience shooting for the show?

I was in England hosting the World Cup shows for Star Sports when I got a message about the show from Viaan Productions. They said it's going to be a live game show on Zee TV . It was the kind of opportunity I had dreamed of and wanted to be a part of. Since then, it has been a great ride. My Sundays just turned into super Sundays. It's a live show, which means no retakes. It's a game show, which means sharing the joy of somebody's victory. It's a comedy show, which means take a lot of punches and throw some too. Standing on a stage for an hour and a half and continuous chatting was an intense as well as enriching experience.

How did your family react to watching you on TV?

My family is my biggest support system. After every show, my family WhatsApp group used to be full of the videos and photos of the show and positive and inspiring feedback. My elder sister, who is a teacher, told every other teacher in her school to watch my show. Zee TV shows are anyway a hit in my family. Lagao Boli was just not an addition but a Sunday ritual for them.

What did you learn from Paritosh Tripathi?

Paritosh is the heartbeat of Lagao Boli. I learned humility, spontaneity, poetry, word play, one-liners, and so much more from him. During the gag in the show, I always say "tum celebrity nahi ho, tum truck wale shayar ho," but in reality, for me, he is a great shayar and a big celebrity.

Would you like to take up acting?

I have done a few ads in the past and enjoyed doing them. I try to bring a lot of acting elements into my anchoring also... it's a beautiful craft, and I am surely looking forward to something exciting in acting also.

Here’s wishing Dheeraj all the best for his future endeavours.
