I was attacked by my rogue neighbours without any provocation and police are refusing to help me out: Dolly Bindra

Dolly Bindra
High drama prevailed at Bhoomi Classic Society in Malad when the feisty Dolly Bindra and her family was attacked by two of her building residents Sunil Khandpur and his wife Pooja Khandpur in the dead of the night without any provocation. In response to our earlier story about the fight, Dolly Bindra spoke to us over the phone and narrated her version of facts. “Sunil Khandpur and his wife Pooja are the chief culprits. I have already lodged a defamation case and a case under section 202 of the Cr.PC. These people have been trying to incite communal violence against my family which is half Muslim. They have been repeatedly calling my sister and her kids ‘Muslims’. Pooja even photographed my sister’s daughter Shifa once and distributed the pictures to other kids in the building instructing them to call her ‘Muslim’. When Sunil and Pooja showed up at my door step at midnight today, I was shocked because the case filed against them is still pending in court. I was like ‘What the hell are they here at my door step for?’ Before I could realize, they just barged inside. Sunil then shouted, ‘Take a bat and smash Dolly’s head and that of her family’s’. Saying so, he whipped out his mobile and started recording. His wife Pooja threatened to kill us. “Tereko Kaat Daalenge’, she said. They were accompanied by four or five women who were brought in to beat me. My aged mother was assaulted by them. They tried to push her off from our building staircase. Luckily, we ran and prevented that. Who would have been responsible had anything happened to my mother? Pooja then clawed me with her sharp fingernails all over. It left me with bad scratch marks.” In spite of this vicious attack, Dolly chose not to retaliate at all. “I didn’t fight back because I didn’t want to take law into my own hands. They came into my house with the intention of provoking me. Earlier too, a couple of women from Karnataka landed at my house and tried to incite and provoke me. The reason for yesterday’s attack was also the same. Had I fought back, I am sure the police would have arrested me.” It is the police’s alleged apathy towards her plight that troubles the television actress the most. Even yesterday, she claims to have received no response when she rang up 100, the official police helpline number. “When I called on 100 and 103, no policemen came online. Finally, I sent a Whatsapp recording to DCP Balsingh Rajput. I cried and begged him to police protection to save me and my family. I admire that officer for he called me back and assured me of help.” Dolly also revealed that no FIR had been registered by the police against the intruders Sunil and Pooja and at the time of filing this article she was on her way to the police station to find out the reason behind this delay.
