Yes, if the news coming in is true, Sony Entertainment Television is presently working out a show on the same lines!!

And none other than the Director of the original series of Mungerilal, Prakash Jha, has the responsibility to helm then project once again.

Yes, the series on Doordarshan which revolved around a simpleton Mungerilal, who used to day-dream all day and see all his dreams turn into reality, had the popular Prakash Jha directing it. The series was written by Manohar Shyam Joshi, with actor Raghubir Yadav playing the titular role with élan.

As per credible sources, “Prakash Jha and Sony TV are presently working on the intricate details on the new script for Mungerilal. The show is in its nascent stage though.”
