MUMBAI: Television actor Karan Oberoi, who is known for soaps like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin and Saaya, has been arrested on charges of raping and blackmailing a woman. It was a difficult time for the actor’s closed ones when it was pronounced that he should be imprisoned in Taloja Jail, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.
Before being led away, the actor dictated a letter to his friend Punit and asked him to write it in the form of a letter from him to the world outside.
Karan's sister Vani confirmed the same and told SpotboyE.com, “Punit is Karan's best friend.”

"Rape is most heinous depraved act by a monster, that snuffs out the life of another … slowly, lil by lil for the rest of the life of the victim leading them scared, scarred, battered and brused for eternity…
If it Is used frivolously just as a word or a statement to falsely implicate someone, either out of ego, vendetta, monetary or any other gains , It does the same for the accused..
I always been a very proud feminist … Does it mean I hate men ? No... it means that I see no difference between men and women other than the physiological ones ... Idea Is that no body should be robbed of their degnity or made to feel Inadequate because of their gender.. will this horrible, gut wrenching, miserable experience that's broken me into a million pieces change my stance ???
will I feel less compassionate. less trusting - less full of love and less respectful of women –NO!!
Because people like this don't represent the vast majority of women on this planet, who are nothing but , the most caring empathetic, compassionate, kind and wonderful women, full of love.... I’m surrounded by quite a few of them .... They are a blessing In my life in these trying times and I sense their immense faith love and affection all around me .. the fact that some of them are random strangers , and casual acquaintances who broke into tears seeing me, Just makes my resolve much stronger that I’ll not let the darkness thats trying creep into me, take home, and I promise to love more strongly and unabashedly ..
what was killing me was the fact , that not just I , everyone I hold dear in my life was also assaulted by these false claims and made to suffer for no fault of theirs ...my
Family, my parents, my siblings my friends each one of had to go thru this horrible ordeal along with me ...
Yet, my immense faith in humanity and the power of truth ,sets me free even when captured in the darkest dungeon of my life… someone told me that this excruciating experience will make me harder In life .. and all I still feel is that, I can be kinder , softer and gentler… and I perceive that as, my biggest strength...
I only urge all you men and women out there, let no man or women suffer like this. “ACT NOW “ !!!

For the uninitiated, Karan has been accused of rape by an astrologer. Celebrities who supported the actor in his tough times include Pooja Bedi, Sudhanshu Pande, and fashion designer Subhash Singh.
