Daily soap queen Ekta Kapoor will soon be recreating the magic of Chandrakanta on Colors. The upcoming series will have Madhurima Tuli playing the titular role while Vishal Aditya Singh has been roped in opposite her. The show also marks the comeback of Urvashi Dholakia who will be seen in the negative role of Rani Iravati.
What is interesting is while Ekta Kapoor’s Chandrakanta will air on Colors from tonight while Nikhil Sinha’s Chandrakanta is already airing for quite some time now. Therefore comparisons are inevitable.
During a press conference when she was questioned about the obvious, she replied, “I wanted to make this series for a long time but I got a little late because of other work commitments. I believe in whatever I am making, I believe in the story, the concept and the characters. I have tried to change it visually. There will be a magical world that will give a whole new presentation. The way Chandrakanta is looked upon by any other producer and how we will be looking at it will be very different; the audience won’t any similarity. We have just taken 5% of the story. I don’t get scared by comparisons; I just do my job.”
Elucidating a lot more on the show she stated “I had committed last year to the channel about the project then I suddenly came to know about the promo of Chandrakanta came on another channel. I thought that I can’t do anything about it; I can’t stop anyone from making it,” she added.
Madhurima and Vishal are the two leads for the show, Madhurima is an experienced actress she has been a part of some films as well. Ekta asserted Madhurima was the only girl who could look Chandrakanta, “Our story is like Cinderella and I wanted a girl who is 21. There were a lot of girls who auditioned for the role but they didn’t look that age. I wanted a good actress too. There were a lot of young girls but there was no maturity in their performance. So Madhurima was apt for the role.”
There have been a host of new actors flooding the Hindi TV industry and a lot f them are from the Balaji stable, Vishal Aditya Singh is another, Ekta seems to be quite pleased with her choice of Vishal to play the lead, speaking about her choice she stated, “I always try to work with new people and giving new talents a chance. Vishal was very good with his auditions and during shooting also he didn’t have enough water, landed up bleeding his nose and went to the hospital. So having so much of dedication, passion, talent and hard work towards his work, no one knows after few years, someone will be launching him in the films (smiles).”
The viewers will surely get a big treat when they see their favourite vamp Urvashi Dholakia’s back in doing what she does best. Speaking about Urvashi’s comeback with Chandrakanta in yet another negative role, Ekta said, “Urvashi is amazing. I met her after years and I told her that she looks so good and brings weight to the character. She is very good and different when it comes to acting. She is very flamboyant. She actually adopts the belief while portraying a role because she is a good actress.”
Earlier there was a buzz that actress Mouni Roy would not be a part of Naagin 3, when Ekta was confronted with the question, she remained calm and confident. “I am putting out a promo on the first episode of Chandrakanta with Mouni.” She retorted.
With all the speculations that are doing the round about the comparison between the two Chandrakanta to be aired on two different channels, comparisons are unavoidable, therefore, we wish you all the very best, Ekta.
