The roast format in India is still at a nascent stage with audience and the participants gradually understanding its nuances.
We, as a community, are sensitive, which proves to be both boon and bane in different scenarios. The idea of being ‘within limits’ varies from individual to individual.
Comedy Nights Bachao Taaza on Colors is one series which has introduced roast comedy to Indian audience in a GEC space. Any new initiative will have its set of critic and claps. Bachao has managed to create a niche and as expected, flurry of controversies.
Stories of celebs getting offended ‘post getting roasted’ have recurrently hit headlines, the most talked about being that of Akshay Kumar.
However, things got a tad more ‘thin-skinned’ when Tannishtha Chatterje accused the maker (Optimystix) and channel of color bias.
She took to social media and shared her feelings, evoking feelings of anger, disgust and vexation.
Comments and opinions swarmed in from various quarters and now, in a graceful gesture, Colors has apologised to Tannishtha on the incident and promised to adhere to the core progressive philosophy of the channel.

It is rather unfortunate that what you had expected to be a fun and novel experience turned out to be traumatic for you. pic.twitter.com/1iH9A3FBIW
On the post, Tannishtha replied and for now it seems all’s well.
