It is a season of marriages and engagements in the telly world. Vahbbiz and Vivian got engaged a week back in Pune and now, heartthrob Shabbir Ahluwalia and his long-time girlfriend Kanchi Kaul are all set to tie the knot on 27 November, 2011. Kanchi is best known for her role of Ananya in Ek Ladki Anjaani Si whereas Shabbir is currently playing the character of Datta Bhau in Colors’ Laagi Tujhse Lagan. The couple has been in a relationship for quite sometime now and they have finally decided to take their relationship to the next level. Furthermore, before the marriage, Shabbir and Kanchi’s sangeet ceremony was held on 24 November 2011 in Mumbai. It was a close-knit affair with only near and dear ones being on the invitee list. Shabbir looked stunning in a black sherwani and Kanchi glowed in her red and orange lehenga choli. Many of Shabbir's and Kanchi's friends from Hindi television and cinema posed for the shutterbugs. “Shabbir and Kanchi are my sweethearts. Shabbir and I play for the same cricket team Boxy Boys. I met Kanchi via him. They look great together and as far as the sangeet is concerned it was superbly organized,” says Varun Badola who attended the function with his kid and wife Rajeshwari. Actor Manoj Bidwai, who came in with wife Ravee Gupta, also loved the ceremony. “Everything was just perfect, but what appealed to me more was Shabbir’s caring nature. He made sure that everyone present enjoyed themselves and made it a point to meet all the guests,” beams Manoj. For Shweta Kawatra and Manav Gohil, the best part in the event was Shabbir and Kanchi’s families dancing and having a gala time. “The sangeet was full of loud music. It was typical of Shabbir Ahluwalia,” adds Manav. Indraneil Sengupta also turned up with his cute daughter Meira and wife Barkha Bisht. “Before the sangeet started, they showed an AV tape wherein everyone from Shabbir and Kanchi’s family was introduced. They are a fantastic couple and the occasion helped us catch up with many close friends. The food was also good,” says Indraneil. So any suggestions where the couple should spend some cosy moments during their honeymoon after marriage? “Barkha and I went to Maldives, but I don’t want to suggest any place. I am sure Shabbir will choose an apt destination,” Indraneil goes on to say.
