Actress Shubhangi Latkar feels that she is blessed to have got the rarest of opportunities to play the lead at this age in Zee TV’s newest offering, Sanyukt (Saregama Productions).

She actually confides in us that she is in fact lucky to have stood the severe competition coming from notable names from Bollywood who were approached for the role of Ila Govardhan Mehta in the show.

Says Shubhangi, “Yes, there were lot many big names from Bollywood who were approached for the role. I feel lucky to have bagged the role amidst huge competition. Also, this show is very special as this is one rare chance wherein the lead actors are experienced and aged actors. I believe luck was on my side, and if I have got this role today, it is only based on my past performances.”

Talking about the role that she will be playing, Shubhangi states, “She’s a very pleasing woman, a beautiful character. All her kids love her, and she loves her husband and kids. Ila will play the today’s Indian mother who will try her best to even it out with her husband and kids, and will toil all her life to keep both happy.”

Also, Shubhangi feels that the USP of Sanyukt lies in the fact that the story will start by depicting a nuclear family and will later proceed towards projecting the life of a joint family. “Performances will be the key in this show. And as far as I have shot, I can tell you that I have had some superlative scenes to shoot with Kiran Kumar. And it is only going to get better with the show going on air and the story picking up pace.”

For Shubhangi, working with the ace actor Kiran Kumar is not something new. “We have worked together in the show Akashvani years back. We know each other very well. And when he got to know that I was cast opposite him, he was very happy. He’s a superlative actor, and is very co-operative.”

Lastly, ask Shubhangi about lady luck providing her opportunities to be paired with big names from Bollywood and she quips, “Very true. I was thrilled when I got to work with Raj Babbar for Pukar. And now, with Kiran Kumar it is indeed going to be a great time. Also, I have shot for a commercial ad with Anil Kapoor. The one thing I have observed in all these big actors is that they are very down to earth and simple, even with the huge magnitude of work they have done.”

After working with Raj Babbar and Kiran Kumar, Shubhangi now has a big dream and hopes and prays that it gets fulfilled. “Well, I want to work with the one and only Amitabh Bachchan. That has been my dream always, and will be extremely thrilled if it happens.”
