Sumona Chakravarti and Sanket Choksey to feature in Yeh Hai Aashiqui

Sumona Chakravarti and Sanket Choksey
BBC Worldwide Productions’ upcoming story for Yeh Hai Aashiqui on Bindass will feature Sumona Chakravarti in a completely different avatar. She will play a guitarist, Tej, part of a rock band. The girl, who will be seen in western look and attitude, will have her Indian values in place. The lead guy Jigar, played by Sanket Choksey will be a typical fundamentalist, conservative in mindset and very narrow-minded. He will be of an opinion that he should stop the youth from getting influenced by the Western culture. The story will kick-start with a popular music band organizing a concert in which Tej will be a part of. However, when Jigar and his fundamentalist party will get to know of this, they will protest and will want to stop the rock concert. Meanwhile, Jigar and Tej’s different ideologies will clash, and they will ultimately fall in love. Will Jigar be able to hold on to his morcha and stop the concert from happening? Or will love take prominence in his life? For the particular story, BBC made sure to have as many as four real rock bands on shoot to give a realistic touch to the musical sequences in the story. When contacted, Sumona who was earlier part of Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and is presently seen in Comedy Nights with Kapil told us, “Yes, this was a very different role to play. And I have to say that my on-screen character was very similar to me in way of thoughts. I too believe in the western way of living, but have my Indian values in place. The story is about one such fundamentalist guy who is very narrow-minded in his thoughts, and the manner in which the story progresses will be an interesting watch. It was nice to be shooting with BBC; I have heard a lot of good things about them and it was a pleasant experience to shoot with a different camera set-up.” Sanket Choksey, who was recently seen in Zee TV’s Buddha – Rajaon Ka Raja, in the role of Buddha’s friend Channa said, “It was a very nice story and it has come out well. The plot is about a clash in ideologies and how love blossoms in between this. It was a great experience shooting with BBC and Yeh Hai Aashiqui team, and the best part was that we were well-informed about the entire character graph and story. This enabled us to better our performances.” This particular episodic will be aired on 12 October 2014.
