They rightly say that good things happen to those who are patient. And Theatre and television actor Ashiesh Roy has been patient. And he has been vindicated when after 20 years, he made a noteworthy debut on the big screen with his debut film Raja Natwarlal earlier this week. Not only did he get to pit his skills opposite stalwarts like Emraan Hashmi, Paresh Rawal and Kay Kay Menon, but his role is being appreciated as well.
And the good news does not stop here. Reports are that he has already signed his next film with Zahara Productions titled Barkhaa, which is a love story set against the backdrop of dance bars. When contacted, Ashiesh fought shy from divulging much details of the project. “Yes. I have signed the film, but it’s too early to give out details. All I can tell you that it’s an interesting part yet again – and I think the right follow up to my role in Raja Natwarlal.
The good news continues as his new show Hum Hai Na hit the small screen this week. “I play a London-returned Sanskrit professor, who also happens to be the over-protective father of the heroine. This is the first time that I’m playing a father on screen, and I’m primarily trying to bring dignity to the character. Pratyusha, who plays my daughter, is a very fine actress, and she’s helping me get under the skin of my character.”
We wish this talented actor all the best for his new film, and hope that he continues his journey on the big screen with as much success as he has achieved on the small screen.
