Umang Jain to play the title role in Zee TV's Devi

Umang Jain

Zee TV’s upcoming super-hero series Devi, produced by Esselvision Productions has been in the headlines on Tellychakkar.com in the past few days.

After exclusively reporting about Indraneil Sengupta, Komolika Guha Thakurta and Rohit Bakshi being part of the show, we now have yet another exclusive information on the female lead on board the show..

Well, our loyal readers would remember a story being put up about Shakti Mohan of Dil Dostii Dance being in talks for the lead role of Devi.

We now hear that Umang Jain, the popular ‘Cadbury’ commercial girl has been roped in to play the lead role instead. Umang has earlier played the role of Nina in the POGO series Sunaina. The girl who has to her credit the biggest brands of television commercials will also be seen playing the lead role in Life OK’s finite series Ek Tha Chander Ek Thi Sudha, for which the shoot has been completed.

A reliable source tells us, “Shakti was in advanced talks with the channel. But things did not materialize as she apparently demanded huge money. Now, Umang has come on board, and the final look tests with her are happening. She will play the female super hero with enormous powers.”

When contacted, Umang told us, “I am now busy shooting for a commercial. Yes, I was approached for the Zee TV show. But there is no clarity on it at the moment.”

Devi is expected to launch in March, and will be the second of the trilogy on super heroes on Zee TV.
