We have moved on from supernatural drama: Producer Rashmi Sharma

Television producer Rashmi Sharma talks about her upcoming movies and decision to move away from supernatural drama

Meet Rashmi Sharma and you will understand the real meaning of the word ebullient. A perfect example of a woman with beauty and brains, Rashmi’s demeanour exudes professionalism, with a subtle touch of geniality.

Immensely successful in the small screen space (thanks to her superhit shows like Sasural Simar Ka, Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Swaragini among others), the lovely lady is entering Bollywood with a bang with her upcoming projects, Pink and Days of Tafree.

Tellychakkar.com caught up with Rashmi recently and over a candid chit chat, got to know different shades of her, which are certainly bright and colourful. We don’t usually like to pat our backs, but when praise comes from an eminent figure like Rashmi, we cherish it for lifetime.

“You guys are the best. You are the fastest and most accurate when it comes to news in the television industry. Good work,” said Rashmi with a beaming smile.

Well, thanks a lot!!!

Moving on, Rashmi broke ratings records via use of supernatural gimmicks in her shows. Her naagins and chudails became overnight success, soaring rapidly on popularity charts.

Given the hit formula, one would assume that Rashmi would continue to dole out similar concepts. However, she surprised us mentioning that she would like to bid adieu to the format.

“I feel proud that we introduced the ‘supernatural’ drama in Indian TV shows. We brought it two years back, made it a trendsetter and thoroughly enjoyed it with the audience. However, soon many other shows used the concept and programming got flooded with it, saturating the space. We thought our USP was getting lost somewhere, so we changed the phase again and we are out of it now. I learnt a lot from those difficult concepts and if we get an opportunity to try something new, we’ll do it soon. But for now we have moved on from supernatural drama,” said Rashmi.

We also tried to find out more on her upcoming television plans, but she asked us to wait for the ‘assured’ surprises. For now, she is excited about her two new film projects and many new twists in her dailies, which we will be writing soon in a detailed interview.

Stay hooked.
