Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, one of the longest-running TV series in India, redefines marital toxicity unlike any other show. In the show, Naira and Kartik are married at least six times. That is also the amount of times they split up. The third and the fourth generation of the show are no different.

Despite having millions of admirers, the show contains several negative aspects that we have chosen to overlook. The drama is among the most retrograde TV serials, even with all the attention it is receiving. Women are portrayed as either "vamps" or "bechari" in it. The topic of women's education and leaving their homes to work has never even been touched upon on the program.

Tulsi had to work very hard to win over her mother-in-law because she was a lower class person—the daughter of a priest.
