MUMBAI: Versatile actor Aadesh Chaudhary who rose to fame through popular television shows like Laagi Tujhse Lagan, Sasural Simar Ka, Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai, and Diya Aur Baati Hum, is back with yet another compelling performance in his latest web series Sabse Bada Rupaiya on Atrangii. The actor, who previously impressed audiences with his portrayal of a police officer in Chitta Ve, is once again donning the uniform—this time with a whole new twist.
In Sabse Bada Rupaiya, Aadesh plays a dedicated and sharp-witted cop navigating the chaos following a mysterious robbery in the fictional village of Mandoli Gaav. The story unfolds around an unexpected theft committed by a school teacher, and how that single act triggers a domino effect of greed, suspicion, and madness throughout the community. “This character is very interesting,” Aadesh shares. “I play an honest and intuitive cop who enters this village to solve what initially seems like a small-time theft but soon turns into a full-blown chase for money. It’s layered, humorous, and filled with suspense. I enjoy playing characters that are grounded and real, and this one gave me just that.”
This isn't Aadesh’s first tryst with khaki. He previously played a law enforcement officer in the gripping crime drama Chitta Ve, a performance that earned him praise for his intensity and screen presence. “There’s something incredibly powerful about playing a cop,” he says with a smile. “The uniform brings a different energy altogether. It comes with authority, responsibility, and vulnerability. Whether it was Chitta Ve or Sabse Bada Rupaiya, I’ve loved exploring the human side of these characters—what they struggle with behind the badge.”
Shot extensively in Lucknow, the series offers a slice-of-life setting infused with humor, emotion, and thrills. “Lucknow added so much depth to the visual storytelling. The old-world charm, the vibrant culture, and the grounded vibe of the city really helped bring authenticity to the narrative. We shot in real locations, interacted with locals, and that rawness translated beautifully on screen,” Aadesh explains.
The title Sabse Bada Rupaiya itself holds deep meaning. “It captures the essence of the show—how money becomes the central driving force of human behavior. It’s a reflection of society. The story shows how an ordinary man’s decision to commit a theft causes a ripple effect, and how everyone’s greed slowly unravels them. It’s relevant, entertaining, and thought-provoking.”
In today’s OTT era, where bold and explicit content often dominates headlines, Sabse Bada Rupaiya stands out for its clean, family-friendly storytelling. Aadesh makes it clear that the series does not rely on bold scenes or sensationalism. “This series is very clean and watchable by all age groups. I personally believe in quality content. As an actor, I have my boundaries. I’m okay with bold scenes only if they’re justified by the script and treated with sensitivity. But unnecessary boldness? That’s a no for me. I prefer roles that speak through emotions, not just skin.”
What makes Sabse Bada Rupaiya special is its relatable characters, quirky yet intelligent storytelling, and strong ensemble cast. “It’s a perfect mix of humor, drama, and mystery,” Aadesh says. “And there’s a certain innocence in the way the story is told—it’s not trying to shock you, it’s trying to make you think and feel.”
