MUMBAI: After Lara Dutta starrer Hundred, Disney+Hotstar is back with another powerful series titled Aarya. The series has 9 episodes of around 45 to 50 minutes. It revolves around the story of Aarya and how far she goes to save her family. Aarya has an amazing cast. Apart from Sushmita Sen and Sikander Kher, the cast includes Namit Das, Jayant Kripalani, Sohaila Kapoor, Sugandha Garg, Maya Sareen, Vishwajeet Pradhan, and Manish Chaudhary. Directed by Ram Madhvani, Sandeep Modi, and Vinod Rawat, Aarya is an official adaptation of popular Dutch crime-drama Penoza.
Aarya, played by Sushmita, is living a happy married life with her husband Tej, played by Chandrachur Singh, and three children. Tej is the CEO of a pharmaceuticals company and also deals in the illegal business of fake medicines. Everything is fine until Tej is murdered by one of his rivals. A helpless Aarya who cannot trust anyone will have to fight for justice for her husband and track down his killer. How far will Aarya go to save her life and to protect her children?
The screenplay and direction are brilliant. The story is gripping and holds the interest of the audiences throughout the series. The strong performances of the leads will never let you down.
The background music plays an important role by helping create an element of thrill throughout the series.
Talking about the performances, after making a strong mark in Bollywood Sushmita Sen has made the perfect comeback with this series. Her performance is a treat to watch. Chandrachur Singh has nothing much to offer but is decent as Tej. On the other hand, Namit Das surprises as Jawahar and has done an amazing job in the series, Sikander Kher also does justice to his role. R. Bhakti Klein, Vikas Kumar, Ankur Bhatia, Manish Chaudhary, and Alexx O'Nell have delivered decent performances.

The positives are Sushmita Sen and her brilliant performance. In addition, the characters and their performances are very believable. Each episode has some turning point. The negative is that a few scenes drag on.
Overall, this fight of Aarya against all odds is completely worth your time during the lockdown.
