MUMBAI: Nowadays, the trend of casting actors by looking at their social media followers is rising with each passing day. Actor Gaurav K Sharma, who is a well-known name in the acting world, shared his thoughts about the same.
Gaurav says,”Nowadays, the game is more about Showsha. The industry works on the formula of ‘Jitna dikhte ho utna bikte ho’. Social media following has become an essential parameter people look at while casting an actor for a project. Now the trend has changed and people are focusing more on enhancing their social media presence rather than their acting chops.”
Gaurav further asserts,"The makers nowadays prefer to cast lead actors with good social media followers because they bring viewership with them, but it can’t be denied that the projects can’t be solely dependent on an influencer. For a project to become a successful one, what holds great importance is talent and dedication towards craft.”
Professionally, Gaurav is all set to be seen in the Hotstar’s upcoming web show-Lootere. He was last seen in Hotstar’s series- Karmma Calling. Apart from this, the actor is known for his roles in projects like, Gangs of Wasseypur, Madras Cafe, Batla House, Inside Edge Season 2, Crash Course, A Billion Colour Story, Chacha Vidhayak Hai Hamare, Powder (TV series) and in many ads. He is also an Alumni of FTII Pune.
