MUMBAI: In 1991, when Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak starring Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt released, it was a blockbuster. The father-daughter duo is back with a sequel but this time a younger member and probably the star of the family Alia Bhatt has joined the project. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur. This is Alia’s first venture with her home production. Produced by Mukesh Bhatt, this movie is a directorial come-back for Mahesh Bhatt after a long time.

Before the lockdown happened only one schedule of the film was left to be shot in Ooty, but given the corona situation it was postponed. Now that they have received a get-go, the shooting will resume in the first week of July as told by producer Mukesh Bhatt. But this time the shoot will happen in Mumbai and not Ooty.
There is huge buzz about this movie going for a direct OTT release but there is no official confirmation. We have seen many big movies opting for the direct OTT release but none without apprehension. The team of Sadak2 is yet to take a decision on this front. Given the current scenario of the spread of pandemic, direct OTT release seems to be the only option though not much to the liking of the industry.
Not much has been revealed about the film’s plot but certain sources tell that the story follows Alia’s character who is on the path to unearth a fake godman who runs an ashram. She is aided by Sanjay’s character in this pursuit of hers. Though the film also stars Gulshan Grover the makers have said he is not playing the character of godman. Will Mahesh Bhatt bring his emotional magic that used to grip the audience back, will be something to look out for.
