MUMBAI: Can it be any more contrasting for a streaming platform? Amazon Prime Video has scored a disastrous hattrick on the one hand, and at the same time, it is also looking at a hattrick on the other end of the spectrum.
The negative side is the three movie debuts Amazon Prime Video had on its platform. Ponmagal Vandhal, Gulabo Sitabo, and Penguin are the three movies. The last of those has been thrashed critically.

Similarly, in the last few months, Amazon Prime Video had Panchayat, Four More Shots Please Season 2, and Paatal Lok. One need not emphasize what is pretty obvious. The web series is well loved by critics and the audience. They are what is generally termed as blockbuster outings in trade.
Will the same trend continue in the coming weeks as well? They have a few more movies lined up, and the biggie Breathe Into The Shadows series. The latter is already gaining a lot of coverage among the fans of online content.
The movies, on the other hand, are getting lesser and lesser interest. It will be a Kannada film, Law, streaming next. We have to wait and watch if the trend can be reversed or not. Given the slate of cinemas planned to launch ahead, it definitely looks difficult. Imagine if what we have seen so far could be the best of the lot? Let’s hope that is not the case.
