Arjun Tanwar’s Full-Circle Moment in Detective Sherdill

Arjun Tanwar

MUMBAI: The debutante recalls his first meeting with Diljit Dosanjh 10 years ago and the words he spoke that stayed with him

Arjun Tanwar is winning hearts and accolades for his confident debut as Purvak, a deaf and mute accountant,  in the recently released whodunnit thriller Detective Sherdill, currently streaming on ZEE5. Starring alongside powerhouse performers like Diljit Dosanjh, Boman Irani, Banita Sandhu, and Diana Penty, the young actor is being applauded for his sensitive and impactful portrayal.

But few know that this onscreen debut is also a moment of destiny fulfilled. An excited Arjun recalls, “Almost ten years ago, I used to go to the same gym as Diljit paaji. One day, he looked at me and told me I would become a big actor someday. That moment stayed with me. And as destiny may have it, making my debut in a film headlined by him,  it’s surreal.”

Diljit’s encouragement continued offscreen too. ”During one emotional scene, I felt I could do better and asked for a retake. Diljit paaji immediately said, ‘Let’s do it.’ His support really boosted my confidence,” says Arjun.

Besides acting, Arjun is also an accomplished singer. He even opened for Himesh Reshammiya at the sold-out Capmania Tour earlier this May. But it’s his turn as Purvak, boyfriend to Shanti (played by Banita Sandhu), that is now turning heads.

With multiple projects in the pipeline, Arjun says, “Abhi toh bohot kuch karna baaki hai. I’m just grateful for all the love and for this incredible start”.
