MUMBAI: It’s been a while since we got to watch a good ol’ family drama. Yes, there are times when we get to watch series like Gullak that gives us some family content and what better than Palash, creator of Gullak joining forces with Sooraj Barjatya, the OG of family entertainment.

Here comes ‘Bada Naam Karenge’, a series directed by Palash Vaswani that marks Rajshri Productions’ debut in the world of OTT and what a debut it is! For everyone craving a sweet family time, tired of all the trending action, thriller and suspense content, here’s the perfect thing to watch and where else than the perfect setup of your own home.

Diving straight in, let’s talk about the storyline first – The series will take you through a sweet and bitter journey of love between Surbhi and Rishabh, that starts brewing at the beginning of lockdown and only keeps growing through all the struggles. It’s one of those love stories that you wish was yours. The representation of two families coming together, three different generations having disagreements and coming to solutions, trying to understand each other and amidst all that, a love story of two youngsters – it all makes up for a must-watch content.

The series gives the same ol’ Rajshri vibes but also has the modern touch of Palash Vaswani so we can safely say that writers S. Manasvi and Vidit Tripathi along with director Palash Vaswani and show-runner Sooraj Barjatya have done a fab job in connecting to the viewers.

Talking about performances, leads Ritik Ghanshani (plays Rishabh) and Ayesha Kaduskar (plays Surbhi) really look like an ideal cute couple and Ritik definitely gives us the ‘Prem’ vibes which makes us wonder if this show can be seen as a modern version of ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ because even here, it’s not all about the lead and in fact every member of the cast makes their impact in the progression of the story.

Talking further about the cast, Kanwaljeet Singh and Alka Amin brought life to their roles and justified it. And when mentioning ‘justification’, Rajesh Tailang hits it out of the park with his role and performance. Anjana Sukhani has made a strong yet subtle comeback with this one and truly conveys the pain of her character. Rajesh Jais, Chaitrali Gupte, Jameel Khan and Deepika Amin justify their performance as new gen parents who are trying to follow up with the modern times and Jameel Khan really gives the ‘perfect dad’ vibes.

When talking about new gen, how can we leave out Saadhika Syal with Omm Dubey and Priyamwada Kant with Gyanendra Tripathi. Surely these actors made a strong impact. It was a treat watching Gyanendra Tripathi as ‘concerned’ brother and it was also refreshing to watch Priyamwada Kant in a different space, playing such a clear-minded character making her points.

Now coming to the best part of it all – the music. Yes! Good music has come back and it’s not just about some soothing voices but also about the heart-touching lyrics, all thanks to Anurag Saikia (music director) and Avinash Chouhan (lyricist). All the songs, along with the title track will make a house in your mind.

Yes, there are some parts where you might feel a little disconnected, cringe or not accurate but don’t worry, stay patient and keep forward because what comes ahead will surely make up for it all.

In conclusion, this is a must-watch series for all the family-content lovers and refreshing for viewers who are looking for something new with the same ol’ comforting vibes. So don’t forget to watch this sweet and desirable love story of Surbhi and Rishabh.

Tellychakkar gives this series 4 out of 5 stars.
