MUMBAI: After Bard of Blood, SRK’s Red Chillies has come up with another venture, and this time they intend to scare you with Netflix’s Betaal, which released on 24th May.
Produced by Red Chillies and directed by Ghoul fame Patrick Graham and Nikhil Mahajan, Betaal, which released on Netflix, has 4 episodes of 45 minutes each. It features Viineet Kumar, Aahana Kumra, Suchitra Pillai, Jatin Goswami, Siddharth Menon, and Manjiri Pupala.
The story begins with a contractor, played by Jitendra Joshi, who wants to clear the tunnel in a village to make way for a highway project, but standing in his way is a bunch of superstitious villagers convinced that the tunnel is cursed. They think that if he breaks the tunnel, then evil forces that have been sleeping for years, will awaken and kill all of them.
He then calls military troops to evacuate the village and demolish the tunnel. Vikram Sirohi, played by Viineet Kumar, leads the operation with Tyagi, played by Suchitra Pillai and DC 'Ahu' Ahluwalia, played by Aahana Kumra.
But things take a turn for the worse when they start to break the tunnel.

The screenplay of the series is tight and gripping, and the writing is solid. In no scene will you feel bored, and you will be glued to your seats till the last minute.
Director Patrick Graham has worked his magic and managed to tell a scary story of zombies.
The background music plays a very important part in any horror flick, and the music in this series goes well with the scenes and helps create the suspense well.
Talking about the performances, Mukkabaaz fame Viineet Kumar has done an amazing job in a never-seen-before avatar. Aahana, whom we have last seen in Marzi with Rajeev Khandelwal, was decent in
the series. Suchitra Pillai is brilliant. Jatin Goswami, Siddharth Menon, and Manjiri Pupala also do justice to their characters.
The positive of the series is the concept. Although we might have many zombie movies in the past, this has something more to offer. Moreover, the strong writing and screenplay play an important role in keeping you hooked.
The negative is that in half of the series, an ancient village language is spoken, because of which we may not understand the dialogue immediately. Another weak point are the graphics and the makeup of the zombies.
Overall, Patrick Graham gives the audience a gripping horror zombie series that has a few scary moments, and you can give it a watch.
