Black Widows review: This thriller will hold your interest but in pieces

ZEE5’s Black Widows is finally out, and here is the complete review of the show.

MUMBAI: Another thriller from the hub of ZEE5 titled Black Widows has finally premiered. This intriguing series deals with love, lies, betrayal, and a lot of secrets in pieces. Black Widows stars some amazing talent such as Shamita Shetty, Mona Singh, Swastika Mukherjee, Sharad Kelkar, Aamir Ali, Raima Sen, and Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and is directed by Birsa Dasgupta.

The story begins with three best friends who are the leading ladies of the show. They plan to kill their respective husbands to set themselves free from their abusive relationships. How they execute the plan is something we see in initially, and how the situation changes for all of them is interesting to watch. With a thrilling start, the show holds your interest but in pieces.

The screenplay of the series strictly average, because it takes a great start with planning and conspiracy, but later, the screenplay loosens and you may find the series a little boring as it deviates from the main aspects. The direction is decent.

Talking about the performances, Swastika Mukherjee and Mona Singh have given their best shot. It was treat to see them in in a unique avatar. Shamita Shetty as Kavita was average, while Sharad Kelkar was decent. Raima Sen was okay, and Aamir Ali had nothing much to offer.

The positive points of the series are the intriguing plot, which manages to grab your attention right from the first scene, and the performances of Swastika Mukherjee and Mona Singh. They both were amazing whenever they appeared on the screen. The background music is good throughout and helps craft the suspense.

However, there are several negative points, including the performance delivered by Shamita. The character is cluelessness throughout the show, but it is not completely her fault. The maker should have written a stronger role keeping in mind the talent and potential the actress has. A major letdown is the screenplay of the show, which slows it down a lot. A few forceful comedy scenes were not required and did not match the situation. They rather spoiled the atmosphere of thrill and suspense.

Overall, the eleven-episode series Black Widows will hold your interest but in pieces. It is a one-time watch.
