
MUMBAI: Ahead of the release of the fourth season of Criminal Justice, Applause Entertainment adopted a creative promotional strategy that has caught everyone's attention. They issued a summons in the form of a legal notice, directed towards the audience. Sharing on social media, their notice read, "You are hereby summoned to be present for a matter of utmost importance, titled ‘Criminal Justice: A Family Matter’. Date of Hearing: 29th May. Venue: JioHotstar."
It added, "Failure to attend may result in missing key evidence, dramatic revelations, and Madhav Mishra in action. This notice has been issued in public interest. Justice awaits. The court of streaming affairs, Applause."
Not only did this notice gauge the audience's attention for its creativity, but it also became funny and effective. Apart from the notice, Applause Entertainment's caption read, "This legal notice demands your presence tomorrow on @Jiohotstar. Failure to appear may result in serious FOMO!"
This creative promotional strategy went viral for its creativity, with many users hailing the tactic. This promotion by Applause Entertainment proved that in the world of OTT, stories and narratives can not only be interesting on-screen, but can also attract attention off-screen.
The fourth season will see Pankaj Tripathi returning to the screens as the popular character Madhav Mishra. He will be seen sharing the screen space with Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Surveen Chawla, Khushboo Atre, and Asha Negi. Directed by Roshan Sippy and produced by Sameer Nair, the trailer and teaser of the series looks promising, and the series is keen to take the audience on a rollercoaster of intense and emotional drama. Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India and directed by Rohan Sippy, Criminal Justice season 4 will stream 29th May onwards, exclusively on JioHotstar.
