MUMBAI: Anand Deverakonda starrer ‘Middle Class Melodies’ might get an OTT release. The makers are considering the option of direct-to-digital release in the light of the fact that theatres will remain closed for an indefinite period of time, as per the source.
According to a source close to the production house, “The film was ready for release when the lockdown was announced. Keeping the current pandemic situation in mind, the makers have decided to release the film on an over-the-top (OTT) platform and have initiated deliberations with a few streaming giants. In all probability, a deal will be sealed in a week or so”.

Middle Class Melodies is Anand’s second film after he made his acting debut with a rustic love story titled Dorasani. The actor who is superstar Vijay Deverakonda’s brother is taking up script-centered films in the initial phase of his career. Given that his first film tanked at the box office and the current pandemic situation, it might be a wise decision to go for an OTT release. The platform will provide a wider audience as well as reduce the risk factor for beginners like him, giving the perfect push for one’s career.
The film is set in the backdrop of Guntur with Varsha Bollamma as the female lead. It is the first feature film of short filmmaker Vinod Anantoju. According to Anand, Middle Class Melodies is not a protagonist-based story, but a collage of different emotions of multiple personalities in a middle-class family. Apparently he also learned cooking in order to get to understand the character better and adapt for it in the film. The story and dialogues for the film have been written by Janardhan Pasumarthi.
