Durgamati review: This horror flick is quite a thrilling ride

Bhumi Pednekar’s much-awaited Durgamati hits the digital screens, and here is the complete review of the movie.

MUMBAI: Bhumi Pednekar’s Durgamati, which is the officially remake of South movie Bhaagmathie, has hit the digital screens today. Here is the complete review of Durgamati. The film stars talent like Bhumi Pednekar, Mahie Gill, Karan Kapadia, Arshad Warsi, and Jisshu Sengupta in the lead roles and is directed by G. Ashok.

The story begins with sculptures of god being robbed from temples, but it is not that simple. There is some political connection. The CBI tries to investigate the case with the help of an ex-IAS officer, and the case gets more complexe and thrilling as it moves ahead. The horror element is interesting.

The screenplay of the movie is decent but lacks at many points. However, the great performances manage to keep you hooked. Moreover, the horror sequences are shot quite well with decent direction by G. Ashok.

Talking about the performances, there is no doubt this is an out-and-out Bhumi Pednekar show. The actress has delivered her best, and this is her first horror movie. Mahie Gill was decent, but we have seen much better. Jisshu Sengupta and Karan Kapdia did justice to their roles. Another actor who will steal your attention in this movie is Arshad Warsi.

The positives of the film are the story telling. The way the story begins and then progresses is unique. The performance of leading lady Bhumi is one of the strongest points. The story get more thrilling towards the end, and the twist towards the climax is unpredictable.

However, there are a few negative points too, mainly the unnecessary and forceful comic scenes, which fall flat. The songs were not required, and the chemistry between Karan and Bhumi was too fast-paced for the audiences to connect with.

Well, overall, Durgamati is a thrilling ride and can be seen with the entire family.

Team TellyChakkar goes with 3 stars for Durgamati.
