MUMBAI: 1. Tell us about your character?
Harry is a cool, charismatic and a confident fresher who has trouble making friends all his life thanks to him being an army kid.He wants to fit into this gang which already is so tight and believes that this is his chance to make long-term friends.
Being a junior, he is full of excitement and vigour. He believes now is the time to make real connections and there’s no better place than college. He is street smart, he thinks on his feet, he is always smiling and stays very calm in the direst situations.
He is also attracted to Deepika and it doesn’t bother him that she is a senior. He doesn’t even try hard to win her thanks to his coolness which Deepika finds attractive.
2. The show takes viewers back to their college days. What were you like in college and how much of it marries into your character on screen.
I spent all of my college life immersing myself in the drama society. We were a young drama society back then and needed that extra work. We went above and beyond to make sure we perform well at all the College theatre fests. Other than that, I think I didn’t interact much with anyone in college which ended up with me coming across as arrogant at times. (Chuckles)
I was nothing like Harry. I wasn’t interested in making long-term friends but somehow that ended up happening. I think the trick is to not try too hard! HoweverI wish I was as charismatic and cool as Harry back in college then I wouldn’t have to spend three years being single. (Laughs)
3. How was the experience working with co-actors like Gagan Arora, Apoorva Arora, Shreya Mehta, ManjotSingh and Keshav Sadhna? What was the chemistry like on and off camera?
The seniors! As my co-actor Jahnvi and I like to address them were absolutely adorable. They were so warm and welcoming. They are such good mates off screen which ends up translating on screen as well and I believe that is very crucial for a show like College Romance. I had so much fun hanging out with them after shoot and on set as well! They have so much to offer. We still interact on the cast WhatsApp chat sharing memes on a daily basis.
4. Any memories / Anecdotes / fun moments from behind the scenes on sets that you recall?
I remember once I was doing my vocal warm up and Nupur and Shreya joined my in the trailer and we ended up doing so many tongue twisters together. It was a blast.
5. What’s your prep process like as an actor?
I have realized that different characters require different kind of preparation and I tweak and modify my prep accordingly.
It depends on a lot of factors like the kind of time I have to prep, how complex the character is and how much attention does the character need in terms of accents, physicality etc.
I have a few tools that I rely on, and I like to ideally immerse myself into the world of the character.
