MUMBAI: Barun Sobti started his career with television and later starred in a few films. Now, he has been doing very well on OTT and his next release is a series titled Badtameez Dil which will premiere on Amazon mini TV on 9th June 2023.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Barun and spoke to him about the series, OTT censorship and more...
The series talks about two different people, having different ideas about love and marriage. But, what’s your take on the concept of love and marriage?
I think it’s got to do with integrity and hard work. Everyone goes into it expecting a fairytale, but that fairytales are not the whole story, there are just a few moments, and the rest of it I think is working on it to achieve those moments. So, I think it should be an all time thing and it should be balanced.
Asur season 2 released a few days ago, and now, Badtameez Dil is coming in just one week. So, do you feel pressure about it?
With pressure, you took us to a different world. We had such an amazing time shooting both these shows. I am really looking forward to people comprehending what we think is good storytelling. See, our job is done, so nothing will change even if we take pressure. So, it’s done.
There has always been a debate that there should be censorship on OTT. So, what’s your take on it?
It’s a very large debate for me to be honest. But, what I think is that especially in India, it’s a problem that we have as a country that if something wrong is happening we just hide it and look somewhere else. We don’t tell the story as they are, so I don’t think that helps; there are certain covers on everything. So, I don’t think that’s a great idea, I think we should tell the stories as they are.
Badtameez Dil also stars Ridhi Dogra, Minissha Lamba, and Mallika Dua.
