Tellychakkar got in touch with the cast of the series where they talked about the audience response, the reaction to their roles, how they got the part and much more.
When asked Naveen about the audience response and the impact the character left in his life, Naveen said, “Pandemic was going on and I was thinking of getting back to writing. That’s when I got this show. I didn’t read the script but TVF was making Aspirants and I wanted to be a part of it. I didn’t know that it would do so well but it did and it gave a boost to my career. It changed a lot of things for me.”
When Asked Abhilash Thapliyal about what made him say yes for the series, he said, “Like how Naveen mentioned, we are all TVF fans. I was a fan of TVF sketches and everytime I met someone from TVF I would tell them that I want to do sketches with you. I usually live in Mumbai but since my father wasn’t well I had gone to Delhi and that’s when I got a call about the series. I met Appu, our director who told me to give auditions so I asked him about the character and he said it’s ‘Jha’. So the auditions happened, the writers thought that I can play SK and from there it all started. I think the writing of the character was really strong but then they sat with the director and this happens with me all the time, I always trust the director so much that things take a shape later.”
On this, when Naveen asked Shivankit if he managed to get the part with ‘Jugaad’, Shivankit shared his story by saying, “I got the audition by ‘Jugaad’ as the industry doesn’t consider a comedian as an actor so I wanted to do something serious.”
When pointed out about the ‘Jugaad’, Naveen said, “We all tested for it. My ‘Jugaad’ was that I told them to get my test done by the director instead of sending me to some casting director and if the director is not sure then please test me directly.”
When asked Shivankit about the difficulties playing the character of Gurpreet, the actor said, “It was challenging because I had lost my practice of being in the character, preparing for the character and the graph of it. Before Aspirants I was doing a lot of sketches and comedy where the characters don’t have a graph, you go, read lines, have fun and come back. I had lost my practice so I think I came to the practice of preparing for a character. We were doing workshops for 10-15 days for our characters which I wasn’t doing. So I think that was the most challenging part. Once you get the hang of it then there was no other problem on the sets.”
