MUMBAI: Aksha Pardasany has impressed one and all with her performance in OTT shows like Jamtara, Kathmandu Connection, and Rafuchakkar. The actress has also been a part of many South and Hindi movies as well.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Aksha and spoke to her about the pressure of audiences, her struggle and more...
When you do some really good work, the audience starts expecting from you. So, does that put a pressure on you when you sign a project?
When you talk about audiences expectations; people have expectations from you as you have delivered something to them and given them something that entertained them. So, when that pressure comes onto you, I take it as a blessing because it makes me feel like I did something to make them happy. When you do work that people are loving and accepting, definitely there’s a responsibility on your shoulder that you have to give back; they expect good work from you. I think you are only as good as your last project, so we need to keep reinventing ourselves, we need to keep doing good work, and we need to be at the top of our game.
You don’t have any filmy family background; you are someone who has made a mark on your own. How would you sum the journey; were the struggles difficult?
Honestly, the struggles have been difficult and I think more importantly what you do learn in the process is that we live in a very insecure industry. We work in an industry where it is so cutthroat and competitive that people are waiting to step on you and walk ahead. The lesson that I have learnt from this is that you kind of walk with your head high and without any kind of manipulation you need to just keep working hard.
You have done a few Hindi films, but in the Hindi sector you are mainly known for doing some amazing OTT series. So, a lot of times it happens that as you come from an OTT background, you are typecast just for that. So, have you ever faced that?
No, I haven’t because the lines are pretty much getting blurred between all mediums whether it’s television, OTT or films. I think it’s a great space for actors to be in. Earlier, there was a kind of stigma where film actors didn’t do television, and television actors couldn’t get into films. It was sad. But, now, I feel the medium doesn’t really matter. I don’t know if producers and directors think like that, but personally I haven’t faced that and I don’t have any problem working in any medium.
