MUMBAI: Actress Sheetal Kale, who rose to fame with her powerful portrayal of Nargis—a transgender character and Sushmita Sen’s close confidante in the acclaimed web series Taali on JioHotstar, recently opened up about her deeply personal bond with her father. On the occasion of Father’s Day, Sheetal shared heartfelt reflections and life lessons that continue to shape her journey today.
Talking about the most valuable life lesson she received from her father, Sheetal shares, “My dad always told me, 'If you lose in life, don’t stop. Just keep doing your work. Until you lose, you won’t learn.' He believes losing is necessary because only then can a person truly understand the difference between right and wrong. He used to say, 'If success was that easy, everyone in the world would be successful. But success only comes to those who have the strength to endure failure.' He taught me that time is the most powerful thing in the world, and good times only come through hard work. But for that, you need to be patient and keep putting in continuous effort, no matter what.”
Recalling her childhood, Sheetal says the time spent with her father will always remain close to her heart.
“All the memories from my childhood with him are incredibly special. Whether it was the small walks, his stories, or just sitting quietly together—every moment is etched in my heart. I can never forget them.”
When asked what quality she admires the most in her father, she says:“I admire his honesty and loyalty the most. He’s also someone who finds peace in simplicity quiet, kind, and a true nature lover. I have rarely come across someone like him. I see a lot of those qualities in myself too, and I hope to strengthen them as I grow.”
She also reflects on how her father chose to guide her differently during her career struggles. “He never supported me in the conventional way. He always believed that too much support can make a person dependent. He thinks true strength comes from within, and that we must face our battles on our own. He used to say, 'I won’t be there in every moment of your life, so you must become capable enough to stand alone, fight alone, and still not break.' His silence during my tough times was his way of letting me build resilience. And looking back, I’m thankful for it.”
Speaking about one special childhood memory with her father, she says: “Every memory with my father from childhood is unforgettable. From the way he held my hand while crossing the road to how he taught me to tie my shoelaces—it’s all very precious. It’s hard to pick just one because each of those moments shaped who I am today.”
Sheetal’s words remind us of the quiet strength many fathers carry and how their wisdom stays with us forever. Sheetal is set to be seen in two big upcoming projects. While the details are still under wraps, the actress promises that exciting announcements are on the way.
