MUMBAI: Hansal Mehta is a director that has brought the much-required freshness into the content that people have started loving so much, be it Aligarh starring Manoj Bajpayee, Scam 1992 starring Pratik Gandhi or Scam 2003 starring Gagan Dev Riar. The director has earned a lot of respect for his craft and is soon coming up another project ‘Gandhi’ which will be his second time collaborating with Pratik Gandhi.
The director has really made a mark with his projects, be it movies or series, be it OTT or on big screens. Well, recently Hansal Mehta made his presence at the Indian Telly Streaming Award 2024 where he won the ‘Best Director’ award for Scoop. In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar, Hansal Mehta revealed about the controversy of Scoop.
Hansal was asked if he was expecting such an award as the series was controversial. To this, Hansal Mehta said, “Humlog jab subject uthate hai toh usme controversy nahi dhundte. Hum aksar ye dhundte hai, uski kahaani, uske characters humein kitna baandhte hai ya hum uspar kitna likh sakte hai ya explore kar sakte hai so I think we followed that. We just explored the characters, the world and we felt that we would be able to give our audiences something to think about, something to ponder about.”
When asked if it is difficult to make a story based on real life characters and events, Hansal Mehta said, “Difficult woh hota hai ke jab aapke paas kaam nahi hota. Toh isko main mushkil nahi kahunga. Challenge hota hai aur challenge ke liye hum jeete hai, we thrive on challenges and this was a challenging show. We had a lot of fun while making.”
