MUMBAI: As we inch closer to the release of the much anticipated and buzzing show Call Me Bae, Gurfateh Pirzada recalls his experience preparing and shooting for his character.

Recently, the trailer for Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming light-hearted show Call Me Bae dropped creating a stir on the internet. Portraying Neel in the show, Gurfateh Pirzada’s character works at a media company in Mumbai.

After having played dark and intense characters in his previous projects like Guilty and Class, Call Me Bae comes in as a breath of fresh air for the actor, in fact, Gurfateh also labelled Neel as the least prepared character he has played till date.

Having played layered and intense characters in his previous projects like Guilty and Class, Gurfateh slipped into characters very different from his own personality, which required intense preparation and experimentation. However, for Neel, Gurfateh portrayed a character very close to his own self, allowing him to flourish with ease, drawing instances from his personal experiences.

He shares, “Ever since I began my journey, I’ve played some really complex characters, preparing for which involved workshops, exercises, research and training. For Call Me Bae though, my character brief was the simplest, I was told to be myself, which naturally involved no training, so I decided to experiment and opt for the spontaneous and natural route, so in a way, I was the least prepared for the show. I had the most relaxed and enjoyable time shooting for the show.”

Opting a carefree attitude Gurfateh Pirzada effortlessly slipped into his character, generating excitement amongst the audience for his performance.

In just a short span of time, Gurfateh has amassed an impressive fan-following with interesting and varied characters proving his mettle. With Call Me Bae, the model-turned-actor is all set to unfold another layer of his versatility.
