MUMBAI: Audiences are buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the highly awaited second season of the popular newsroom drama, The Broken News. As the premiere approaches, actress Shriya Pilgaonkar opens up about her approach to her craft and the intense clash between rival news channels that lies at the heart of the show's gripping story. She highlights how she takes great pride in portraying diverse roles that resonate with audiences. The riveting new season promises to take the rivalry between the two channels, Josh 24x7 and Awaz Bharti, to new heights, evolving from a newsroom battle to a personal struggle for survival. Returning after a two-year hiatus, the show will explore the consequences of prioritizing sensationalism over truth in the world of broadcast journalism.
"I have been fortunate to work on shows that really resonated with people, and consciously, even I try to portray different roles, so I don't get stereotyped for a particular role," Pilgaonkar remarked. She further added, "I have played so many different roles in the past few years, like a lawyer, news reporter, sex worker, etc. I am open to exploring projects on the big screen as well. I don't want to limit myself to just being an OTT actor. My criteria for selecting any show or movie are very clear - I should enjoy it as an audience or a viewer while reading it. It's not just about my character; it's about how the entire story has been written. For me, the story is equally important. I am glad that I haven't ever regretted the characters I have done all these years. I totally believe that the impact any character makes is what makes the journey more memorable."
Starring alongside acclaimed actors Sonali Bendre and Jaideep Ahlawat, Pilgaonkar’s performance in The Broken News S2 is something which fans have been waiting for with anticipation.
