MUMBAI: Karisma is one of the most loved actresses of the Hindi Film industry. With a career spanning over 3 decades, she has been part of several movies as well as a few OTT series. She is currently seen in the Netflix film Murder Mubarak. Recently the actress surprised her fans saying that her name has been pronounced wrong for years.
Karisma revealed that her name is pronounced “Karizzma” and not how it is spelled. Karisma revealed in an interview that her name’s pronunciation stems from her British roots. Hearing this, Pankaj Tripathi said shocked, “Mujhe toh aaj hi pata chala (I had no idea),” and Sara Ali Khan added, “But you never corrected anybody ever!” Karisma calmly replied, “Because now it’s been forever, call me what you like,” and Sara replied, “But we just found out your name, that’s strange.”
Karisma revealed the origin behind her name, “Growing up, we had a club culture. My nani (maternal grandmother) was British, so my grandmother and grandfather would always go to the club in beautiful sarees and a pearl necklace. We would also go along with them. In a certain way, I have seen that culture. There were a lot of rules, there used to be a card room where kids were not allowed, so we used to peep into the room to see what’s happening over there, which aunty comes carrying what kind of bag.”
