MUMBAI: Prem Mistry is one of the finest directors we have in the OTT space who has been making presence with some entertaining and relatable youth-oriented shows but the interesting part here is that not all his characters and stories are about the youth as there are stories that touch hearts with its maturity in characters and situations.
The director has been responsible for hit projects like Campus Diaries, Life Hill Gayi, Uncommon Sense With Saloni, ImMature and many more. Now the director is back with another series titled Lafangey. The series released on 6th June and stars Anud Singh Dhaka, Gagan Arora, Harsh Beniwal, Barkha Singh, and Salonnay Gaur. The show is available to stream on Amazon MX Player.
We have observed how the landscape has changed with regards to OTT and theatre releases. When asked to Prem Mistry about it, he said, When it comes to theaters, it’s a different ballgame because the return on investment that you’re expecting, after putting your money on a particular project, it is huge because it’s not just production cost, it’s also marketing it, distributing it, and the time period that you get to recover those costs are merely a month maybe. Iss wajah se pressure on producers zyada hota hai and that’s why you want to rely on celebrities more who are established and who can guarantee these amount of people who can come and pay and watch. On the other hand, OTTs don’t have pressure...because OTT pe ek baar aa gaya then it’s there for a long time, so people can watch it at their own pace, they don’t watch everyone to watch it in the first two weeks, so I wouldn’t say wahan pe risk kam hota hai but tumhare ROI ke liye time bohot milta hai.
