MUMBAI: There are times when some actors become a genre. We often find people saying they love ‘Emraan Hashmi songs’, or Arshad Warsi movies or even Fahadh Faasil movies are their favourite genre. Sanya Malhotra has become one of those actors and fans would surely agree with this.

The actress has once again given a heart-touching performance. In fact, one of her best. Yes, we are talking about ZEE5's latest release ‘Mrs’. This is a must-watch not just for the feminist in you but also for the anti-feminist side in you that’s in conflict. The movie will definitely show you a side that’s not unseen, not ignored but rather overlooked and accepted. While the story starts in a sweet manner, nothing out of the ordinary, you will find yourself asking a lot of questions as the story progresses. You will find one question for sure – Is this fair?

Every scene means something and while a common woman might feel relatable to the story, there’s more than just the factor of relatability to focus on as there’s also the factor of dependency and who is responsible for it, somewhat resting at the core of it all.

A great job done by director and writer Arati Kadav along with Anu Singh Choudhary and Harman Baweja (writers) for giving us this eye-opening story. Also, thanks to Jyoti Deshpande who has been supporting some of the most innovative and unique content in the country lately but it doesn’t end here as the credit for supporting this particular story also goes to Pammi Baweja and Harman Baweja, the producers.

Talking about performances, we will definitely start with Sanya Malhotra and Nishant Dahiya who portray the role of a newly-wed wife and husband. Their performances, especially Sanya Malhotra’s, really touch your heart and successfully conveys her emotions while Sanya’s character goes into a discovery mode for her identity. Even parts with silences in the movie are worth the watch. The story of this movie is based on ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ written by Jeo Baby.

While it is something that we recommend for all to watch, this is surely not everyone’s cup of tea as some parts might not be as appealing as it might be to some others who are ready to discover the depth in writing and screenplay.

In conclusion, the movie is a great conversation-starter with a lot of detailing in its art and while there are some who might feel disconnected with the storyline or the silence in scenes, there’s no denying that Sanya Malhotra has yet again proven herself to be a gem of an actor.

Tellychakkar gives this movie 3 out of 5 stars.
