MUMBAI: Mihir Ahuja, currently seen as Abhijeet in Pyaar Paisa Profit — produced by Yash and Mamta Patnaik under Inspire Films — is enjoying a fresh wave of attention. Streaming on Amazon MX Player, the series is an adaptation of Durjoy Datta’s popular novel Now That You’re Rich, Let’s Fall in Love.
But Mihir, who has been steadily working in the industry since 2017, looks back with warmth at where it all began. “My first salary was for an ad — I got ₹15,000. That was my first-ever paycheck in Bombay,” he says with the kind of relaxed honesty that’s become his signature.
In Pyaar Paisa Profit, he plays Abhijeet, a character who walks the line between overconfidence and charm — someone who believes in “faking it till you make it.” Mihir connects with that mindset, especially from his early theatre and street play days. “Even if you're nervous or anxious, pretend to be confident, and soon you actually start feeling confident,” he explains, then adds with a grin, “But you can’t apply this everywhere in life.”
As the story progresses, Abhijeet’s arc underscores a deeper truth — that sincerity eventually outweighs surface-level swagger. “He realises you have to be a genuinely good person at heart to succeed,” Mihir reflects.
Offscreen, Mihir’s reflections are just as endearing. Reminiscing about school, he shares, “I had a crush on a girl from 9D — I was in 9A. I’d make up reasons to go to her class, like borrowing chalk or a duster.” He also laughs about a failed attempt to confess feelings to his English teacher and his awe for teachers who could solve complex math problems effortlessly.
What stands out for Mihir from this project isn’t just the character, but the connections. “Mahvash, Aashish, Shivangi — we still hang out. We’ve stayed close even after the shoot wrapped. Not every project gives you that bond.”
