MUMBAI : Nadiya Moidu is one of the biggest names in the South film industry. She has been in the industry for more than three decades and has featured in many successful films. Nadiya will next be seen in Wonder Women which is slated to premiere on Sony LIV on 18th November 2022.
The Anjali Menon directorial revolves around pregnant women from different backgrounds and cultures, as they come together at a prenatal center. TellyChakkar recently interacted with Nadiya Moidu and spoke to her about her character in the movie, and a lot more…
Tell us something about your character in Wonder Women...
My character is called Nandita; she runs a place called Sumana, which is a prenatal center. When I asked the director what exactly she was looking for in Nandita, she said, a woman who has wisdom and empathy. Due to some reason, she decided to start this pre-natal center. She is the catalyst for all these narratives like everyone comes from different backgrounds and cities, and then how she manages to get them to come together and how they bond.
How was your experience of working with so many actresses in one film?
It was fabulous. Whenever I work with the younger group of actors there’s a lot of learning. We come from a certain school and we see the way things work today or just the attitude on the sets is very different from how we did about 30 years back. Just to see pure talent, how they get their work done, the energy, and there’s no hierarchy; I think all that was exciting. They all are just wonderful actors.
You have been in the industry for so many years, so now when a script comes to you what do you look forward to in it?
Women of my age, have very limited choices that come our way. Within that, I try to see that I make a niche for myself, and fortunately, I have been able to do that. But, after a while, you want to challenge yourself and do something different. This is the thought I was going through when Anjali came with the script. So, that is what I see as how I will make a difference in this film.
