MUMBAI: It’s only been three years since ‘Pretty Little Liars’ ended its run on TV, racking up fans, views and appreciation. And instead of a new spinoff of the show, as was the original plan, Pretty Little Liars will get a reboot — a ‘Riverdale’ reboot!
If you’re wondering what that means, Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will be presenting the fresh take on Pretty Little Liars. Aguirre-Sacasa is also the one behind other well known shows such Glee, Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, Katy Keene, among others.
Warner Bros creation Pretty Little Liars quickly caught the fancy of young adults, upon release in 2010. The mystery thriller garnered huge fan following across the globe, catapulting its lead cast, Lucy Hale, Tyler Blackburn, Shay Mitchell and Tyler Blackburn, among others, to star status.

However, the reboot version of Pretty Little Liars will be nowhere close to the original in story and treatment. It will showcase new characters, and a new, different story. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will be in charge of the script. The Pretty Little Liars reboot hasn’t been picked up by a streaming platform yet. But considering it’s a Warner Bros property, Warner owned HBO Max becomes prime contender to host the planned reboot.
There were also spinoffs of Pretty Little Liars — Pretty Little Liars: Ravenswood (2014) and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists (2019), which ran for one season each.
Two of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s popular shows Katy Keene and Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina were cancelled recently by their respective networks. The latter streams on Netflix and is a popular show among young adults, who can’t fathom why the show got cancelled.
