MUMBAI: Hindi film actor Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan has at last made his debut in the Hindi film industry. His feature film début this year was Maharaj, which was helmed by Siddharth P. Malhotra. But there were bumps in the path leading up to the release. Before it was eventually released to theaters, the film caused controversy and created a brief delay in release. The actor discussed the matter that caused the release to be delayed in his first interview after the film's release.

Junaid Khan said,, “We were all on edge a little bit, I think. But there was a lot of faith in the film from all of us and people who have seen the film.” He further said, “That faith was always there from Yash Raj Films and Netflix. That gave us some courage.”
Maharaj follows the story of Karsandas Mulji, a journalist and social reformer, played by Junaid Khan. The film delves into the sensitive topic of the 1862 Maharaj Libel Case, a landmark legal battle that addressed social issues in pre-independence India.
The controversy surrounding the film arose when the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), a Hindu nationalist organization, raised objections. The details of their concerns remain unclear, but reports suggest they might have centered on the film's portrayal of a religious figure or the historical accuracy of the events depicted.
